Winter starts in November when it starts snowing and stays until the last week of March to First week of April. It may not be easy to travel but it is definitely adventurous to get on the roads of Spiti during this season. With the temperatures going below 20 degrees centigrade, you get to see the rivers frozen up and almost everything from mountains, villages, roads to each house donned in white color. It is an absolutely mesmerising sight to witness a sea of white everywhere.
Since the Rohtang-Kumzum Pass-Kaza roads are closed during winters, the only way to reach Spiti is from Hindustan-Tibet national highway.
The Name ‘Spiti’ Means middle land i.e. Land between Ladakh & Tibet. It is a High Altitude cold desert Mountain valley located in North Eastern Part of Himachal Pradesh which forms a Part of Lahual & Spiti District at an Altitude of 12,500 ft. Spiti Kinnaur Valley is one of the least populated regions in India. This Trip will leave you astonished & will surprise you at every turn on the world’s deadliest Himalayan Roads. 9th Feb, Sunday, Day 1: Drive Chandigarh-Shimla (4-5 Hrs)
Arrival in Chandigarh by 12 noon and move towards Shimla.
Check-in into hotel. Freshen up.
Night stay at Shimla

10th Feb, Monday, Day 2: Drive Shimla- Narkanda-Sarahan (6-7 Hrs)
Post breakfast, check out by 9.00 am and move towards Narkanda.
Enroute Lunch.
Narkanda is a town which town attracts tourists for its ethereal natural beauty and its beautiful apple orchards.
Explore Narkanda, which is famous for its Hatu peak & Hatu Temple. Hatu peak is the highest peak in Shimla district (9,000 Ft.).
Later on move to Sarahan.
Visit Bhimakali Temple at Sarahan.
Dinner & retire for the night.

11th Feb, Tuesday, Day 3: Drive Sarahan-Sangla (5-6 Hrs)
This is going be one of the most Scenic Drives of our Entire Tour.
We will head to Sangla today.
Reach Sangla in afternoon.
Sangla Valley is also known as Baspa Valley because of the Baspa River & is very rich in apple orchards, Apricot, wall-nuts, Cedar Trees.
Visit Kamru Fort & few other places in Sangala.

12th Feb, Wednesday, Day 4: Drive Sangla-Nako-Tabo (6-7 Hrs)
Post breakfast, we will move towards Nako. Nako is famous for its lake & a monastery established in 11th Century. Guru Padmasambhava has his footprints on a rock nearby and is revered by Buddhists all around the world.
Head to Tabo, which is also known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas. We will Visit 1,000 years old Tabo Monastery which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is said that the statues are very similar to that of Alchi monastery in Ladakh.

13th Feb, Thursday, Day 5: Drive Tabo-Dhankar-Pin Valley-Kaza (6-7 Hrs)
We will be heading to Dhankar Monastery which is 1200 years old monastery built on high spur overlooking the confluence of Spiti and Pin Rivers.
We will also hike to the beautiful Dhankar Lake (1.30 Hrs Hike one way). (Optional)
After a quick visit to Mud village in Pin Valley, We will move towards Kaza.

14th Feb, Friday, Day 6: Drive Kaza-Chicham-Kibber-Key-Kaza (3-4 Hrs)
Visit Key Monastery & the beautiful Kibber village.
Key monastery is the largest monastery in Spiti Valley built on a hill top and is founded in 11th Century.
We will visit Kibber village which is famous for sighting of snow leopards. Kibber is also the start or end point of famous Parangla trek which connects Spiti valley with Ladakh.
Also visit the famous Chicham Bridge. Come back to Kaza.

15th Feb, Saturday, Day 7: Drive Kaza- Komic-Hikkim-Langza-Kaza (3-4 Hrs)
We will be heading to visit Komic which is known as highest inhibited village (13,000 Ft.) with a population of 80. Enroute visit Highest Post Office at Hikkim. You can post a card to you from here.
We then would be visiting Langza, which is famous for Fossils & a big Buddha Statue.
Come back to Kaza.

16th Feb, Sunday, Day 8: Drive Kaza-Kalpa (7-8 Hrs)
Post breakfast, check out.
We will proceed to Kalpa Village which is a beautiful place overlooking the Kinner Kailash Mountain.
Visit the famous Suicide point at Roghi while on the way to our stay in Kalpa.

17th Feb, Monday, Day 9: Kalpa-Shimla (8-9 Hrs)
Today we will be heading back to Shimla, which is going to be our last stay of the trip.
You are free to explore Shimla on your own.

18th Feb, Tuesday, Day 10: Shimla-Chandigarh (5 Hrs)
Post breakfast, We will head to Chandigarh and reach airport by 2.00 pm.

Some important points to note:
1) You can plan your return anytime after 3.00 pm on 18th Feb 2025 OR You can choose to extend your stay. Since Kinnaur-Spiti is a landslide prone area, we recommend keeping one day buffer for your flight back to home.
2) Pl note that this is a thrilling road trip in remote locations. The tour leader has the authority to change the schedule or skip some points in case of emergencies or natural calamities.
3) Since this is a winter trip and most of the hotels are shut, we would be staying in home stays/guesthouses at some of the villages which may not have attached bathrooms or dry eco-friendly squatting toilets. Wet toilets might not be available due to water lines freezing. Also having a bath everyday might not be possible too.
4) It gets very cold in winter. One needs to be mentally and physically for in order to handle these climatic conditions.
5) It may happen that, due to heavy snow fall, some of the roads are closed. In this case, we may have to skip some places & take diversion roads. The itinerary will be changed accordingly.
Though this trip is easy from physical endurance perspective but it’s not advisable for the people suffering from High Blood pressure, any other heart ailments or Illness of any kind. It is of utmost importance that you are fit and fine before going for this trip & It Is mandatory to get yourself medically checked & submit a medical certificate to the Tour Organiser.
