Korlai is a Portuguese fort located in a village Korlai near Alibag in Raigad District of Maharashtra. Its also known as Morro or Castle Curlew. It was built by Portuguese on an island (Morro de Chaul) in 1521 and it was strategically positioned so that Portuguese could use it to defend their province stretched from Korlai to Bassein.

The fort overlooks the vast blue expanse of Arabian Sea and offers some stunning panoramic views from the top. It is mostly in ruins but definitely a treasure for history buffs, nature lovers and photographers.

Revdanda is an ancient fort built by Portuguese Captain Soj in 1558. During Portuguese times, it was called Santa Maria De Castelo but locals called it Revdanda after Revati, wife of Yadava King Balarama.  The fort has a 4 storied tower, few ruins and some cannons lying inside the walls.  Since its located on the shore of Revdanda Beach, this places offers a beautiful view of palm-fringed fort walls that are touched by waves.

Both Korlai and Revdanda forts came under Maratha Kingdom as per the treaty signed by Portuguese. Later on British captured the fort in 1818.

Rameshwar Temple is an ancient beautiful  temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located close to Revdanda.

• • Pick up from Borivali at 5.45 am and JVLR (Pratapnagar Bus Stop) at 6.15 am. (We will be taking JVLR Route.)
  • We will move to Korlai Fort (4.5 Hours from Mumbai)
  • Have breakfast on the way
  • Reach Fort by 11.00 am and explore it for an hour. (One has to trek for 15-20 Min to the fort. Its an easy hike.)
  • Have lunch
  • Visit Revdanda Fort (Land fort) and beach
  • Visit Rameshwar Temple
  • Move to Borivali by 5.00 pm. We will be reaching Borivali between 10.00 pm to 11.00 pm subject to traffic.
