Tripper Journeys invite you to Velas Turtle Festival 2022. Velas is a small village in Ratnagriri District which is a famous breeding site for Olive Ridley Turtles that visit Velas beach every year to lay their eggs.
At Velas, NGO named Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra has started conversation of turtles by providing protection to their eggs with the help of villagers. This festival is conducted in the months of February to April when the hatching takes place to create awareness since Olive Ridley turtles are endangered species.
This festival is not just about Turtles Hatching but you also get to stay in home stays, enjoy delicious Konkani food and explore the village.
It’s definitely a beautiful site of turtles coming out of the eggs, crawling and taking tiny footsteps on the golden sand and moving slowly towards the blue sea.
We will be also visiting Bankot Fort and Harihareshwar along with Velas.
This festival is specially must for those who love nature.

Friday, Day 0, 18th March:

Leave for Velas by private vehicle from Borivali. (Further pick up points would be intimated to you later on.)

Saturday, Day 1, 19th March:

We will reach our home stay early in the morning.
Freshen up and head to Velas beach for our first turtle sighting with hopes to see turtles by 6.00 am.
Come back by 8.00 am and have breakfast.
We will head to Bankot fort which is famous for its history and you also get to enjoy panoramic views of Velas.
Come back and have lunch.
We will again go for our second sighting at Velas Beach.
Come back and rest.
Post dinner, retire for the day.

Night stay at Home stay.

Day 2, 20th March:

We will leave for our third and last turtle sighting by 6.00 am.
Come back, freshen up and have breakfast.
We will check out from home stay and move to Harihareshwar Temple & Beach by Jetty.
Post lunch at Harihareshwar, Head to Mumbai by 3.00 pm.
We should be back to Mumbai between 09.00 pm to 10.00 pm.

Tour concludes with happy memories.

Note: Velas is an Eco Village. The Stay facility will be simple in a Kokani traditional home on sharing basis. Please do not expect luxury on this trip.
