Bidar Fort stands tall with pride of historical significance and architectural brilliance in the city of Bidar in Karnataka. The fort, the city and the district are all affixed with the name Bidar. Sultan Alla-Ud Din Bahman of the Bahmanid Dynasty shifted his capital from Gulbarga  to Bidar in 1427 and built his fort along with a number of Islamic monuments.

The grand fort has an Islamic and Persian architecture in every nook and corner of its grandeur. The fort is 0.75 mi (1.21 km) long by 0.5 mi (0.80 km) in breadth. The fort walls measure 2.5 km (1.6 mi) on the outside and include within numerous buildings, arches, pavilions, mosques, gateways and gardens

Bidar fort has a number of monuments within the fortress complex. Prominent amongst them are the Rangin Mahal (because of its elaborate decoration with coloured tiles); the Takht Mahal, or throne room; the Jami Masjid  and the Sola Khamba Masjid .

Basavkalayan fort (earlier known as Kalyana fort) is located in Bidar District and was royal capital of Chalukyas.Basavakalyana city with its fort was the centre of a great social and religious movement, in the 12th century, because of Basaveshwara, the social reformer.

The fort has seven gates, out of which five are in good shape. At the entrance to the fort, there is solid arch with balconies on the flanks accessed by series of steps on either side. The main door to the citadel is known as the ‘Akhand Darwaza’ built with four red stone slabs. There are many structures and number of monuments within the fort. Prominent being Rajmahal, Rani Mahal, 2 deep wells, cannons, an empty pond with pillar of fountain at the centre.

We will also visit Basaveshwara Statue (108 Ft. in height) which is near to the Basavalayan fort.

21st Mar, Saturday, Day 1:

Arrival in Bidar at 9.15 a.m.
We will check in into hotel & freshen up.
Move out to explore Bidar Fort complex (Rangin Mahal, Gagan Mahal, Royal Pavilion, Diwan-e-aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Tarkash Mahal, Solah Khamb Mosque)
After lunch we will explore other places in Bidar ( Bahamani Ruler Tombs, Madrasa of Mahmud Gawan, Chuabara, Barid Shahi Tombs, Chaukhandi)
Come back to Hotel & retire for the day.

22nd Mar, Sunday, Day 2:

Post Breakfast, we will visit Narsimha Jharna Temple and move towards Basavkalayan.
Explore Basavkalyan Fort & move towards Basaveshwara Statue.
We will move towards Bidar Station to board ‘Bidar CSTM Express, 22144’ Train @ 7.50 p.m.
